Publication of genetic evaluation
Together with NTP, EBV (yen) and Lifetime Merit(yen), EBV (production and score type traits, calving traits and female fertility traits), SBV (all production and type traits), and relative EBV ( herd life, persistency, workability traits) are officially published for bulls admitted in the national dairy sire progeny test program scheme.
For domestic sire, based on 15 daughters or more in 10 herds or more must exist to publish evaluations.

Evaluation for imported semen are published when reliability is 75% or more of milk and 60% or more of overall conformation.
In addition, genomic evaluation for young sire and maiden heifer was started from Nov. 2013. Estimated breeding value of genomic evaluation for meiden heifer is published when they have not been adopted in sire evaluation calculation and they have not reached 36 months old. Publication of the genomic evaluation results for young sire was started fron Feb.2017.

NTP, EBV (production traits), EPA (production traits), EBV and EPA (yen) of active cows are reported to owners through DHIP. Also evaluations of top 1500 NTP cows are released simultaneously to bull evaluations for the web.

Bull evaluations (including unofficial imported semen evaluations) are released from NLBC, and published in the Japanese dairy sire evaluation report by LIAJ after each routine evaluation. Other details of routine Japanese dairy sire, cow evaluation and genomic evaluation are published in the bulletin of the dairy sire and cow evaluation by NLBC.

And a stepwise genetic base was introduced for production and type traits in Japan following an INTERBULL recommendation (INTERBULL, 1990). The current genetic base is a group of cows born in 2010 (updated in 2016) for all traits. The genetic base will be updated every 5 years.
